Barcelona opens LaLiga with a 3-0 win over Mallorca in a controversial match

FC Barcelona began the 2025–26 LaLiga season with a convincing 3-0 victory against Mallorca at Son Moix. Raphinha scored early in the 7th minute with a header from Lamine Yamal’s cross, and Ferran Torres doubled the lead with a powerful strike from distance. The goal sparked protests from Mallorca players, as the referee did not stop play while one of their teammates was down on the pitch.
Mallorca’s problems grew before halftime, when Manu Morlanes was sent off with a second yellow card and Vedat Muriqi received a direct red. Playing with nine men, the hosts struggled to resist Barcelona’s control of the match. In stoppage time, Lamine Yamal sealed the win with a brilliant goal from outside the box, closing the score at 3-0.
The game also marked the debut of goalkeeper John García and Marcus Rashford, who came on in the second half after being registered hours earlier. Despite the strong result, coach Hansi Flick criticized his team’s lack of intensity in the second half. Barcelona will play their next LaLiga match against Levante.
