Cristiano Ronaldo Acquires 25% Stake in UD Almería

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% stake in Unión Deportiva Almería, a club currently competing in Spain’s Segunda División (LaLiga Hypermotion), according to official statements from the club and sources close to the player.

The transaction was carried out through CR7 Sports Investments, a newly established subsidiary under the CR7 S.A. holding company, which Ronaldo uses to manage his sports-related investments. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Almería has been under the ownership of a Saudi-led consortium since May 2025, headed by businessman Mohamed Al-Khereiji via the SMC Group (Saudi Media Company). Ronaldo’s entry integrates into this ownership structure, making him a significant minority shareholder in the club’s ongoing development project.

In the hours following the announcement, UD Almería’s official Instagram account gained over two million followers, reflecting the immediate global media impact of the Portuguese star.

At 41 years old, Ronaldo remains an active player with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. This acquisition marks his first major equity involvement in a European club. Spanish regulations currently prevent active professional players from holding significant stakes in LaLiga clubs or joining them if they maintain decision-making influence in the entity.

The Andalusian side currently sits in third place in the Segunda División standings, within reach of direct promotion or the play-offs with 15 matches remaining in the season.
